### **How does this work?**

This uses ItemsAdder or Oraxen plugins to apply custom textures to AdvancedPets menus. This is as simple as just installing one of those plugins, adding this pack and custom AdvancedPets configuration - that's it!

<figure><img src="https://i.imgur.com/lnOkESd.gif" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Complete guide on how to install with those plugins (or just as a resource pack) is included within the pack files.\
\
**Full installation support is available for customers of this pack on our official AdvancedPlugins discord server, any questions or problems will be answered there.**

# Vanilla Mobs as Pets

Use vanilla mobs with AdvancedPets

### Can I give vanilla mob pets to my players?

Yes! Since version 2.0.0, vanilla mobs are now supported as pets.

### How to set up a vanilla mob as a pet?

Very simple! All you need to do is create a file in AdvancedPets' plugin folder. Go to `your server/plugins/AdvancedPets/customMobs` , you will need to create a file called `<mob name>.amob`, e.g. `Zombie.amob` and use this format inside:

<pre class="language-yaml" data-title="Zombie.amob" data-overflow="wrap" data-line-numbers><code class="lang-yaml"><strong>settings:
</strong>  sounds: ZOMBIE
  mobtype: ZOMBIE
  nametagHeight: 0

skins:
parts:
</code></pre>

Don't worry about the file extension - it's still a text file but using `.amob` our model format. Set `mobtype` and `sounds` to your vanilla mob's type, then save this file and restart.

Here you can find all the proper names for vanilla mobs: <https://hub.spigotmc.org/javadocs/bukkit/org/bukkit/entity/EntityType.html>

# Abilities

Guide on abilities with AdvancedPets

* Over 60 abilities are built into the plugin.
* Equip players with potion effects when pet is active, give potions when attacking, killing, set players on fire, strike lightning - it's your choice

## How to create abilities

Start off by creating a file for mob in `plugins/AdvancedPets/abilities` folder, name format should be `<mob name>.yml`, e.g. `Dog.yml`

#### Example Abilities file:

```yaml
# Dog Abilities
#  Pets can give off special abilities to pet owners passively or at events
#  Effect List: https://ae.advancedplugins.net/enchantments/creating-enchantments/effect-list
#  Read more here: https://wiki.advancedplugins.net/effects/types
description: "Chance to deal more damage to players & mobs"
ATTACK:
  chance: 15
  cooldown: 2
  effects:
    - 'ADD_HARM:3 @Other'
```

`description` - text displayed next to pet in /pets menu. Explains what abilities pet has.

Under description is where Ability Types follow. Types can be found in [here](https://wiki.advancedplugins.net/abilities/triggers).

Full list of effects: <https://wiki.advancedplugins.net/abilities/effects>

#### Setting abilities for pets

Abilities can have attributes, such as:

* `chance` - chance of ability activating when triggered by owner
* `cooldown` - how long after activating ability wont be available (will be on cooldown)

#### Placeholders

You can assign who ability affects, be it owner (`%owner%`) or other player/entity (`%other%`). This way abilities are given towards the assigned player.

*Example*:

```yaml
  effects:
  - 'POTION:HASTE:0:20 @Owner'
```

In this example, HASTE potion effect will be given to pet owner for 20 ticks = 1 second.

*Another example*:

```yaml
  effects:
  - 'LIGHTNING @Other'
```

This example would strike lightning at other entity. E.g. when attacking mobs or players, the **other** entity would be entity getting attacked.

## Placeholders

Placeholder list for effects:

| Placeholder  | Explanation                                       |
| ------------ | ------------------------------------------------- |
| %owner name% | Inserts pet owner's name                          |
| %other name% | Inserts other person's name (e.g. when attacking) |
|              |                                                   |

# Mechanics

Learn about all mechanics you can edit with AdvancedMobs here.

* **Custom mobs appear in the world just like normal mobs do!** Mobs spawn depending on what biomes they have, if they are hostile (example: only spawn at dark, in caves, etc.)
* **Peaceful and hostile mobs!** Hostile mobs will attack players that are in range with realistic damage handling (armor and other modifiers change how much custom mobs deal damage to players)
* **Build Bosses With Blocks!** Allow players to build custom mobs with block patterns
* **Sounds!** Mobs use selected vanilla sounds for immersive experience
* **Breed mobs!** Peaceful mobs can be bred using specified items in config (can be disabled)
* **Mobs drop loot!** All mobs drop their own specified loot, and you are able to configure it&#x20;
* **Persistent mobs!** Our custom mobs are persistent and stay after restarts or leaving areas and coming back later. Never worry about leaving your farms and mobs despawning.<br>

# Build Mobs With Blocks

Use your own patters to build bosses

## How do block patterns work?

Building mobs with block patterns mimics the vanilla feature where Withers, Iron golems or snowmans can be built. Players must make a specific pattern for a mob to spawn - the block pattern disappears. Best explained by this gif:

<figure><img src="https://2125321039-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuAb528wVCZfJT8n3LXzI%2Fuploads%2FbVclnKl56ZwiqNfVmJuv%2Fbosses.gif?alt=media&amp;token=8970d8e3-28c4-4bb3-b010-d0309138ba32" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

## How to customize / make your own patterns?

You will need to do this all inside `plugins/AdvancedMobs/bosses` folder. If you are customizing an already available pattern, find the file named same as the mob you want to change, otherwise, create a new file called `<mob name>.yml`, example: `Wyvern.yml`

We're going to be customizing a default pattern of Wyvern mob. The inside of file looks like this:

{% code title="plugins/AdvancedMobs/bosses/Wyvern.yml" overflow="wrap" lineNumbers="true" %}

```yaml
# Boss Configuration file for Wyvern
# How to build Wyvern boss
build:
  pattern:
    - ' e '
    - 'idi'
    - ' d '
  materials:
    e: ENCHANTING_TABLE
    i: IRON_BLOCK
    d: REINFORCED_DEEPSLATE
```

{% endcode %}

Patterns are very simple to understand. Use empty space    to act as an AIR block, otherwise specify material names below the pattern list. As an example, in our file, `e` means ENCHANTING\_TABLE.&#x20;

Here is a visual representation of how this pattern looks:

<figure><img src="https://2125321039-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuAb528wVCZfJT8n3LXzI%2Fuploads%2FE5gBn5BI4obVeGUDGD5W%2Fbuild%20pattern.png?alt=media&amp;token=80f590e0-4c3a-4335-9683-98927f8876aa" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

Because there's 3 lines, and 3 materials in each line, this is a 3x3 pattern. A very basic 2D pattern. You can have as many lines in height or width as you want.

# Mob Loot

Configure mob loot and toggle it on or off

Custom mobs are able to drop extremely configurable loot using mob loot mechanic.

### How to disable loot for a mob?

Go into `plugins/AdvancedMobs/drops` folder and find the file name which matches mob's name. Simply **delete the file** and restart!

### How to configure mob loot?

In the `drops` folder, you can find all the loot configured for each mob. Find the mob you want to edit (in our case, we'll edit Gorilla's drops).

{% code title="drops/Gorilla.yml" overflow="wrap" lineNumbers="true" %}

```yaml
# Drops Configuration
#  Command drops are supported! Set `command: 'your command here'`, %player% placeholder is supported as a player name
# Is Looting (Vanilla Enchant) enabled for this mob's drops?
lootingEnabled: true
# How much exp should the mob drop?
exp: 1-3
# This only works for Vanilla mobs, decides whether vanilla drops should be disabled or not
disableVanillaDrops: true
drops:
  0:
    chance: 45
    type: IRON_INGOT
    amount: 1-2
    # List all levels which should have this drop
    forLevels: 0-19
  1:
    chance: 10
    type: IRON_INGOT
    amount: 1-2
    # Only upgraded spawners will have a chance to get this drop
    forLevels: 1-19
```

{% endcode %}

You can choose whether looting enchantment works with custom mobs, how much experience they drop or if editing vanilla mob's loot, whether vanilla drops work with mobs as well.

Now, onto editing the custom drops. Two loot types are possible: **items** and **commands**

#### Items

You need to follow this item format: <https://wiki.advancedplugins.net/configuration/config-items>

For mob to drop loot, you also need to specify for which upgradeLevels this loot will drop. With Gorilla, we can see that the first drop will work on all levels (**forLevels** setting), from **default (0)** all up to 19th level (that is the maximum by default).

#### Commands

To set a command drop, it's as simple as setting item's drop. Be aware, that this loot will not drop but rather execute upon a mob is killed.

Example configuration for commands:

{% code title="drops/Gorilla.yml" overflow="wrap" lineNumbers="true" %}

```yaml
 1:
    chance: 10
    command: 'broadcast %player% killed a Gorilla!'
    forLevels: 0-19
```

{% endcode %}

This will execute a command when Gorilla is killed, broadcasting `<killer's name> killed a Gorilla!`

**%player%** - will be replaced with player's who killed, name.

# Random Spawning

Configure random spawning and toggle it on or off

Custom mobs can spawn randomly throughout the world with this mechanic.

### How to disable?

Go into `plugins/AdvancedMobs/randomSpawning.yml` file, set `enabled` to false and restart.

### How to change which mobs randomly spawn?

In the same file as mentioned above, you will find a list of mobs that can randomly spawn. By default, it looks like this:

<pre class="language-yaml" data-title="randomSpawning.yml" data-line-numbers><code class="lang-yaml"># Random Spawn-able custom mobs list
<strong>mobsAllowedToRandomSpawn:
</strong>  - 'Demon'
  - 'Dog'
  - 'Dragon'
  - 'Flamingo'
  - 'Giraffe'
  - 'Gorilla'
  - 'Hippo'
  - 'Monkey'
  - 'Octopus'
  - 'Raccoon'
  - 'Raptor'
  - 'Robot'
  - 'Tiger'
  - 'Turtle'
  - 'Wyvern'
  - 'Zebra'
  - 'Snail'
</code></pre>

To remove a custom mob, just simply remove that entry from list and restart. To add a new one, simply add an entry with your wanted mob's name.

### Add a world in which mobs randomly spawn

By default, custom mobs spawn in `"world"` world only. To add new worlds, add an entry to `worldList` setting in randomSpawning.yml file. Below is an example where we add `custom_world` to our list.

<pre class="language-yaml" data-title="randomSpawning.yml" data-overflow="wrap" data-line-numbers><code class="lang-yaml"><strong># Worlds list for random spawning
</strong># In what worlds should random custom mobs spawn
worldList:
  - 'world'
  - 'custom_world'
</code></pre>

### Change biomes of where custom mobs spawn

To do that, go into `plugins/AdvancedMobs/customMobs` folder. Open any of the mobs file you want (the extension is `.amob` but the file acts like a `.yml` file - use your text editor to open it!).

Here's how the settings look like for Demon mob:

{% code title="customMobs/Demon.yml" overflow="wrap" lineNumbers="true" %}

```yaml
settings:
  health: 40
  sounds: WOLF
  hostile: true
  nametagHeight: 0.9
  damage: 8
  animateOnWalking: true
  animationSmoothness: 5
  animationSpeed: 2
  biomes:
    - 'ALL'
```

{% endcode %}

You can see the setting called `biomes`. To change biomes, simply add your entry from biome name list - <https://hub.spigotmc.org/javadocs/spigot/org/bukkit/block/Biome.html>.&#x20;

Adding entry `ALL` will allow the mob to spawn in any biomes.

# Breeding

Configuring breeding and toggle it on or off

Breeding mechanic allows players to breed 2 same type mobs to "create" a new mob of same type.

### How to disable?

Go into `plugins/AdvancedMobs/breeding.yml` file and set `enabled` to false, then restart.

### How to change breeding materials or allow new mobs to be bred?

In the same file mentioned above, you can customize which mobs can be bread and what material is required.

{% code title="breeding.yml" overflow="wrap" lineNumbers="true" %}

```yaml
mobs:
  Dog: BONE
```

{% endcode %}

Here we have an example of how Dog mob can be bred. To add your own, simply add a new line and list the mob in this format: `<mob file name>: <material name>`

Example:

{% code title="breeding.yml" overflow="wrap" lineNumbers="true" %}

```yaml
mobs:
  Dog: BONE
  CustomMob: STICK
```

{% endcode %}

# Mobs & Spawners Stacking

Configure stacking and toggle it on or off

AdvancedMobs can stack your mobs and spawners - to dramatically increase performance, be it vanilla or custom mobs.

Stacking is **disabled** by default.

### How to enable?

To enable, go into `plugins/AdvancedMobs/config.yml` file. You will need to find settings called `spawnerStacking` and `mobStacking`. Set both `enabled` to true and restart.

### How does this work

You can give your players mob spawners, to spawn vanilla/custom mobs. To save performance, your server's RAM and space, mob spawners and mobs can be stacked.

Placing spawners near one another will stack them depending on type and level.&#x20;

Once mobs spawn from these spawners, they will be stacked as well. Killing stacked mobs will have them killed one by one (can be changed to whole stack dying in config).

### Upgrading Spawners (Levels)

You can upgrade spawners with this plugin. Plugin has a fully customisable leveling experience - `customMobs/AdvancedMobs/upgrades.yml`.

Configure upgrades menu, economy, prices.

Each level has configuration of:

* Price to upgrade
* How many mobs should spawn at once (spawning multiplier to spawn formula)
* Spawning time of how often mobs should spawn

### How to customize Spawner Stacking

{% code title="config.yml" overflow="wrap" lineNumbers="true" %}

```yaml
# Spawner Stacking Settings
spawnerStacking:
  # Is spawner stacking enabled?
  enabled: false
  # Maximum number of spawners in a stack
  maxSpawnersPerStack: 100
  # Max distance in which spawners will stack together
  maxStackDistance: 5;
  # Number of mobs spawning per spawner
  mobsPerSpawner: "<random>1-4</random> * %spawner count% * %upgrades%"
  # Default spawner spawning speed, in ticks
  spawnSpeed: 600
```

{% endcode %}

You can change how many spawners are allowed per stack (per one block), stacking distance, formula which is used to calculate how many mobs spawn from spawner and the default spawning speed.

### How to customize Mob Stacking

{% code title="config.yml" overflow="wrap" lineNumbers="true" %}

```yaml
# Mob Stacking Configuration
mobStacking:
  # Is mob stacking enabled?
  enabled: false
  # Should vanilla mobs stack?
  # If set to false, only custom mobs will stack
  stackVanillaMobs: true
  # Max distance in which mobs will stack together
  maxMobStackDistance: 16
  # Maximum number of mobs in a stack
  maxMobsPerStack: 100
  # Should whole stack die when one is killed?
  wholeStackDeath: false
  # Stacked Mobs Blacklist
  # Add any mob type you want here to not stack
  mobBlacklist:
    - 'ENDER_DRAGON'
```

{% endcode %}

Toggle stacking, set whether vanilla or custom mobs should spawn, distances, max mobs per stack, if whole stack dies and mobs blacklist here.

# Custom Mob Settings

Custom mobs can be assigned unique settings to differentiate their values, such as speed, hologram height, etc. We explain here every setting, how to use it and what it changes.

## Where are these settings located?

Settings are located in each custom mob's configuration file (`customMobs` folder). Mob settings are set at the top of their respective `.amob` file, e.g.:

<pre class="language-yaml"><code class="lang-yaml"><strong>settings:
</strong>  health: 30 # Mob's health
  sounds: BLAZE # Sound List: https://hub.spigotmc.org/javadocs/bukkit/org/bukkit/Sound.html
  hostile: true # Is mob hostile? If set to false, mob will not be aggressive towards players
  nametagHeight: 0.3 # How high should the nametag be?
  damage: 3 # How much damage should the mobs do to players?
  animateOnWalking: true # Should animation be active only when mob is walking?
  headFollow: true # Should mob's head follow target
  animationSmoothness: 20 # How smooth should the animation be? 1-20, higher being smoother.
  animationSpeed: 10 # How smooth should the animation be? 1-20, lower being faster.
  walkingSpeed: 0.9 # How custom fast mob walks
</code></pre>

## Each setting explanation

#### `health`

**Explanation:** Value of mob's health. To put into perspective, players by default have `20` health.\
**Value**: integer\
**Example Usage**: `health: 20`

#### `sounds`

**Explanation:** From what vanilla mob should the sounds be used. Sound list: <https://hub.spigotmc.org/javadocs/bukkit/org/bukkit/Sound.html>\
**Value**: Sound enum\
**Example Usage**: `sounds: ZOMBIE`

#### `hostile`

**Explanation:** Changes whether custom mob is hostile (attacks players) or does not.\
**Value:** boolean\
**Example Usage**: `hostile: true`

#### `nametagHeight`

**Explanation:** Changes how high mob nametag is compared to mob's head location.\
**Value:** double\
**Example Usage**: `nametagHeight: 2.0`

#### `damage`

**Explanation:** Sets mob's damage towards players. 1 = half a heart of damage.\
**Value:** integer\
**Example Usage**: `damage: 2`

#### `animationSmoothness`

**Explanation:** Changes played animation smoothness. Does not impact performance, animations are cached on server startup.\
**Value:** integer, 1 to 20\
**Example Usage**:  `animationSmoothness: 10`

#### `animationSpeed`

**Explanation:** Changes how fast animations are played between frames.\
**Value:** ticks, 1 to 20. *20 ticks = 1 second between animation frames.*\
**Example Usage**:  `animationSpeed: 10`

#### `walkingSpeed`

**Explanation:** Changes mob's walking speed. 1.0 = default speed, 2.0 = 2x default speed, 0.5 = half default speed.\
**Value:** double\
**Example Usage**:  `walkingSpeed: 2.5`

**`headFollow`**

**Explanation:** makes player's `head` part look at target (in pets, looks at owner)\
**Value**: boolean\
**Example** usage: `headFollow: true`

# ItemsAdder support

ItemsAdder is fully supported, however some users report that mob skins may be glitchy. This is caused by ItemsAdder, and you must follow the link below on how to resolve this:

# ModelEngine

Learn how to use ModelEngine with our plugins

## How does ModelEngine work with custom mobs?&#x20;

Adding a custom ModelEngine to our plugins take a couple of minutes. ModelEngine pets also fully support abilities from AdvancedPets, as well as custom walking speed, custom damage and players will be able to ride it as well.

Don't have ModelEngine? It's available for purchase or free download here: <https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/conxeptworks-model-engine—ultimate-custom-entity-model-manager-1-16-5-1-19-2.79477/>\
(You can use up to 6 models with our plugins and ModelEngine for free by using demo - everything is the same as paid, it's just limited to 6 models)

<figure><img src="https://2125321039-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuAb528wVCZfJT8n3LXzI%2Fuploads%2FEQ8HM4xg8TUSjLw2Fizb%2Fimage.png?alt=media&amp;token=6ba66ec1-5f6b-48d3-897e-e51bf4edc4d3" alt=""><figcaption><p>Only v3.0.0+ is supported with our plugins</p></figcaption></figure>

## How to create a ModelEngine pet?

It's very simple! Go into `plugins/<AdvancedPets/AdvancedMobs>/customMobs` folder. You will need to create a new mob now - using your text editor.

Create a .amob file with the name of pet you want, e.g. `ModelRobot.amob`, example:

![](https://i.imgur.com/2t0YJnc.png)

When you create the file, open it with your text editor (Notepad++ is recommended).&#x20;

We have a template you can use for ModelEngine pets:

{% code title="ModelRobot.amob" %}

```yaml
settings:
  health: 20
  damage: 1
  nametagheight: 0
  walkingspeed: 1.1
  modelengine: kindletronjr
skins:
parts:
animations:
```

{% endcode %}

To use your own custom ModelEngine model, simply change `settings.modelengine` to the model name you want. In this example we're using one of the demo mobs `kindletronjr`

Now in-game you will be able to see your ModelPet in /pets menu, like this:

![](https://2125321039-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuAb528wVCZfJT8n3LXzI%2Fuploads%2FH3vBT2GCOOZUBCapjzNj%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=54c211da-8b42-486b-964a-973ebf865c57)

Spawning it will show a pet with ModelEngine model:

![](https://2125321039-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FuAb528wVCZfJT8n3LXzI%2Fuploads%2FpjrbVdbZvF2qh4GtjZEl%2Fimage.png?alt=media\&token=e810e3ef-7075-4519-be85-c340c8c84fe3)

That's it!
